Senior Benefits Specialist

JOB SUMMARY
Our Manchester, NH client is seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Coordinator to join their HR team and support a workforce of over 1,000 employees. This is an excellent opportunity for a benefits professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while working onsite with a collaborative team.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Benefits Coordinator will serve as a key resource for benefits administration, employee support, and vendor management. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of health and welfare benefits, compliance requirements, and the ability to provide exceptional service to a large employee population.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer comprehensive benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans for 1,000+ employees
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing guidance on plan options, enrollment, claims, and life events
  • Coordinate and facilitate annual open enrollment process, including communications, presentations, and system updates
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA
  • Manage COBRA administration and processing, including notifications, eligibility tracking, and premium collections
  • Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain benefits records and HRIS data integrity; generate reports and metrics for leadership
  • Partner with benefits vendors, insurance carriers, and brokers to resolve issues and optimize service delivery
  • Assist with benefits renewals, vendor evaluations, and plan design recommendations
  • Support leave of absence administration and coordinate with payroll for benefits deductions
  • Develop and maintain benefits documentation, policies, procedures, and employee communications
  • Conduct new hire benefits orientations and ongoing employee education sessions

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • 3-5+ years of benefits administration experience, preferably supporting large employee populations
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and regulatory compliance (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA)
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex benefits information clearly
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion

Preferred:

  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or similar benefits certification
  • Experience with large-scale open enrollment coordination
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience with ADP, Workday, or similar HRIS platforms
